volumes loaded with wonderful knowledge and literary poise, but the print is too small.

loaded with poetic verse and literary stories of past. print is too small for me at times, especially the footnotes. but its crammed full of literature, and ive only broken the cover of one volume thus far, ugh!

Norton is always an excellent choice in anthology for literature!! The indexes and bibliographies are wonderful resources! Many college literature classes use the Norton as their text of choice.

2/21/2008This collection is priceless. You get a slew of great titles in one book. I needed this book for a class, and otherwise wouldn't have bought it, but I'm keeping it after the class is over just for the literature it contains.
You could read these and literally be a few steps above your friends in intelligence.
I gave it a 4/5 though, because there was one mistake I saw in the book. One date on one of the footnotes said an author wrote something 100 years after their death- a typo. A resource like this should be free of typos, as you'll likely use it for reports and as a reference.
(I still would not buy it again unless I needed it for the class, however)
